Cycles for Science is a high school curriculum supplement designed to assist secondary teachers and students (grades 9-12) in meeting state and local goals for learning in Life/Environmental Science, General/Earth Science and Physical Science.
Curriculum supplements in each of these core areas of science contain project-oriented lessons and hands-on activities.
The development of Cycles for Science was motivated by teachers and non-school solid waste management educators who sought educational materials focusing on recycling, solid waste management and natural resource management.
Cycles for Science integrates those concepts into a program of science topics and manufacturing subjects. Cycles for Science focuses on commonly taught science principles and brings them alive using real-life applications. Although steel plays a role in the development of the materials, the program is a broad treatment of a variety of subjects. Each guide also contains information on how to integrate the subject matter into other fields of secondary education study.
