A life cycle inventory (LCI) study has been carried out by the World Steel Association (worldsteel) to quantify resource use, energy consumption, and environmental emissions associated with steel products. LCI data is used in life cycle assessments (LCAs) to benchmark performance, identify product improvement opportunities, address legislative and standards-based requirements, and assess competing materials.
